Sony Electronics South Africa will be launching its fourth Sony Centre at Melrose Arch in Johannesburg on Saturday, 28 March 2009. The Melrose Arch Sony Centre is set to be yet another success story for Sony as its three contemporaries have enjoyed tremendous success.

These stores’ openings at Menlyn Shopping Centre in Pretoria; Eastgate Shopping Centre in Johannesburg; and Gaborone in Botswana respectively saw Sony enthusiasts making the most from the opening specials and end-to-end range of Sony products on offer. The Menlyn opening, for example, saw people queuing for 400 metres just to gain access to the store.

And true to form, the Melrose Arch Sony Centre will also feature a number of opening specials, on sale to the public on Saturday, 28 March 2009.

For Blu-ray enthusiasts, one of the highlights of the Melrose Arch Sony Centre will be its comprehensive range of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Blu-ray titles; enjoying pride-of-place in the store with an eye-catching display and expert sales staff on hand to provide any assistance needed.

“High-definition is the buzz word and Blu-ray is what it’s all about. At our centres we not only provide our patrons with great titles but also the equipment that enables them to experience the real quality that the Blu-ray format delivers,” comments Gavin Smith, Senior Manager customer communication marketing, at Sony Electronics South Africa.

Adds Nelmari Claassens, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment marketing manager, SterKinekor Entertainment: “The Sony Centres are a fantastic way to tangibly showcase Blu-ray technology. These stores offer consumers the opportunity to experience the format first-hand, allowing them to personally see and hear the strides Blu-ray technology has made in terms of visual and as well as audio quality.”

The Sony Centres are a one-stop-shop for patrons; they not only feature the latest technology in BRAVIA LCD, PlayStation, VAIO and Blu-ray players but also showcase the latest accessories which aren’t always as easily obtainable from general retailers and stockists.

Additionally, the Melrose Arch Sony Centre will feature a sound and picture room which will provide shop visitors with the ideal environment and equipment to make informed and educated decisions on TVs, audio equipment and so forth.

Furthermore, the Sony Centres are the only stores which feature the complete range of television and projectors, displayed side-by-side which will enable visitors to assess each technology, make comparisons and choose the best product for their requirements.

“At our Sony Centres we are offering the complete entertainment package; hardware, pre-recorded music and movies, software and accessories. It practically demonstrates our leadership in electronics, complemented by a truly dedicated and knowledgeable staff contingent,” concludes Smith.
